The initiatives of Arts, Commerce, and Science College Alkuti are devoted to championing the conservation and promotion of life on Earth. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Green Campus operations has been developed to control pollutant discharges through routine maintenance practices including mowing and debris control.

Implementation of SOP: Maintenance of Garden/Green Area

  • Step 1 – Plants/Tree Care: Regular watering, pruning, mowing, sweeping, and composting of garden waste. Seasonal flower and tree plantation is encouraged. Damaged or bare areas are reported and repaired fortnightly.
  • Step 2 – Lawn Care & Signage: Maintain benches, educate students on lawn etiquette, label trees/plants with signage, and prepare monthly reports.

Procedure for Gardening Maintenance

  • Civil/Site Engineer instructs the Garden Supervisor.
  • Supervisor directs laborers (Maalis) on daily tasks.
  • Daily verification and reporting by the Supervisor.
  • Site Engineer consolidates and reports to Green Campus In-charge.
  • Green Campus I/C submits final report to Campus Director/Principal.

Audit

  • Conduct Green/Energy/Water Audits annually to improve environmental conditions.
  • Raise awareness on sustainable practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Reduce potential environmental threats and corrective costs.
